WHAT TO EXPECT

What is a qEEG?
A quantitative EEG (qEEG) is a quick, painless brainwave recording that maps electrical activity across your brain. It’s the cornerstone of personalized care at NEUCOA — the map we use to design individualized treatment plans.

Why we do it

  • Identifies overactive or underactive regions of the brain

  • Shows connectivity between brain areas

  • Highlights markers linked to depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, TBI, autism, sleep issues, and cognitive function

  • Provides the data used to generate a personalized MeRT®/TMS protocol

What happens during the visit

  • Eyes-closed recording for about 10 minutes (plus setup)

  • Relaxed, non-invasive, and pain free — no needles or electrical stimulation during the recording

  • We also take an EKG to review brain-heart coherence

Prep & tips

  • Wash hair the night before; arrive with clean, dry hair (no gels, oils, or hairsprays)

  • Ideally schedule before 6pm if possible

  • Bring a list of current medications and any prior brain or cardiac device info

Turnaround & next steps

  • Report generation typically takes ~48 hours

  • Your clinician will review results with you and recommend next steps (MeRT®, TMS, Sonal, or other care)
